Volunteer Toolkit

Thank you so much for volunteering for our campaign. Expanding equitable access to quality education for all California students, regardless of family income or race, is a straightforward idea with the potential to transform millions of young lives and break the cycle of poverty. We are thrilled to have your support.

Here are some key ways you can assist our campaign:

Letters To the Editor

Write a Letter to the Editor of a local newspaper. This toolkit contains sample letters for you to use, and we encourage you to add your own voice or personal story to make these letters as impactful as possible.
You can submit a Letter to the Editor online, through the publication’s website, or by emailing a local reporter or the newspaper editor. Some newspapers also accept letters by mail. Check your local newspaper’s website for specific submission details. Review our sample Letters to the Editor and add your personal voice to your letter. Explain why you are passionate about financial literacy and why you personally support the campaign. Keep your letter straightforward and brief, aiming for less than 500 words, as most printed Letters to the Editor are short. If your letter gets printed, share it with us! Email a photo or link to your Letter to the Editor to Media@EducationOpportunity.org

Dear Editor:

As a concerned parent and active member of our local community, I am writing to express my strong support for the California ballot measure, Children's Educational Opportunity Act, that provides equitable access to quality education for all of California's children, regardless of family income or race.

California once led the nation in public education but has now fallen to one of the worst. Despite increasing funding for our public schools, we have not seen a reversal of this downward trend. Our students deserve the best educational opportunities to compete in the 21st century.

I hope this measure makes it to the ballot because it is a common-sense way to end the cycle of poverty, ensuring that moderate- and low-income families have the same education choices as wealthy families. This change is long overdue for California.

Dear Editor:

As a student in one of California's public schools, I want the same opportunities for a quality education as students from wealthy families. Why should they have multiple education options while I am limited to just one—my local public school? I want to express my support for the Children's Educational Opportunity Act because it would give me the same career opportunities as students from wealthier families. This initiative addresses a significant failing in California's public education system.

The initiative would provide equitable access to quality education for all California students. I need the skills to compete in the 21st century, and a quality education is essential for this. I appreciate that the measure ensures all students, regardless of their family income or race, have equal access to these opportunities.

Grassroots Fundraising

Our campaign relies on support from donors across the state. We need contributions at any level to ensure we have the resources necessary to succeed. Please chip in today and help us win!
Dear Friends,
This year, I’m excited to be part of the Children's Educational Opportunity Act. Our goal is straightforward yet impactful: to ensure that all of California's children have equitable access to a quality education, regardless of their family income or race. This crucial issue will be on the November 2026 ballot.

I believe this initiative has the power to change lives both now and in the future. Instead of students being confined to underperforming public schools with limited options, they will have access to the same educational opportunities as their peers from wealthier families. This could truly be a game changer. Imagine if every student had the resources to reach their full potential and break the cycle of poverty through education.

I urge you to contribute any amount to support this cause. Your donation will help us turn this vision into reality. Thank you for your support!

You can also host a straightforward grassroots fundraising event.

We’ve provided a downloadable invitation that you can customize using Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Whether you choose to host your event on Zoom or in person, invite people to contribute any amount to support our cause.
